The Universidad del Norte and Promigas announce the creation of two doctoral scholarships within the framework of the GreenGas Alliance, which seek to benefit two researchers who want to generate new knowledge around the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen.
With this initiative, Promigas and Uninorte seek to contribute to the strengthening of our country’s capacities in terms of research, innovation and development.
The GreenGas Alliance is part of the Promigas Innovation Acceleration Plan, with which the company hopes to increase and accelerate the impact of innovation on its business and the consolidation of a sustained path of growth.
With a coverage of one hundred percent (100%) of the tuition fee, the two scholarships that will be awarded cover the eight semesters of study, maintenance assistance and international internship assistance during the last year of studies in any of the doctorates in engineering offered by Uninorte: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems and Computing Engineering.

For the assignment of the Uninorte and Promigas scholarships, they seek the best talents in the country interested in doctoral training focused on low-emission hydrogen and with potential impact in Colombia, especially proposals that address the impact of hydrogen in pipelines, the performance of hydrogen mixtures and natural gas, materials and processes for hydrogen storage, and CO capture2 derived from the production of hydrogen with natural gas.
“The doctors who are going to be trained with these scholarships are going to really bet on the energy transformation that our region needs, finding in hydrogen an appropriate source for the energy that we will need in the future and that allows us to be friendly with our environment. ”, assured Javier Paez, vice-rector for research, creation and innovation at Uninorte.
From Promigas, the research will be supported by the Center for Research and Innovation in Energy and Gas – CIIEG – which stands out for a broad portfolio of research in energy transition businesses, both in renewable gases such as hydrogen and biomethane, as well as in energy solutions. low carbon such as solar thermal systems and power districts.
For its part, the Universidad del Norte has 11 research groups categorized and recognized by MinCiencias that are able to support the projects and scientific production of the scholarship recipients.
The call to apply for the scholarships will be open until June 18 and among the requirements are to be 25 years old and demonstrate proficiency in English. For more information: see enter: https://www.uninorte.edu.co/web/apoyo-financiero/beca-doctorado-en-ingenieria-mecanica
