Philips Fixables has set a new direction in the technological repair approach. From now on, some users will be able to print certain spare parts for Philips products thanks to this initiative, developed in collaboration with Prusa Research and available from the Printables platform.

3D printable parts for repairs

The program debuts in the Czech Republic with a first part compatible with multiple models of the OneBlade trimmer: a 3 mm comb. This file is available for free download and can be printed with PLA filament without the need for additional media. This strategy aims to minimize reliance on technical services or hard-to-find spare parts.

By facilitating the home printing of accessories, Philips reduces the environmental impact associated with transporting and packaging components. This digital distribution model also promotes a tangible reduction in e-waste. electronic wasteby encouraging users to keep and repair their devices rather than discard them prematurely.

Although these are free files, the brand emphasizes that the parts will only offer optimum performance if the printing parameters defined by the company are respected. Altering the design or material could compromise the durability of the part and therefore the user experience.

Active consumer participation

The Verge portal reports that the site allows users to suggest new parts to be included. Although Philips does not guarantee the publication of each request, the open form aims at a more direct relationship between the brand and consumers, fostering a culture of technological repair from the community.

This movement is part of a global context that demands greater responsibility from manufacturers. Programs such as Philips Fixables reinforce the concept of the circular economyThe Philips Fixables program, which aims to extend the useful life of products and facilitate access to autonomous solutions for their maintenance.
