Petrobras has identified hydrocarbons in an exploratory well located in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin. Well 1-BRSA-1394-RJS, located 105 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro State, reached a water depth of 575 meters. This discovery marks an important step in the company’s exploration activities , as it continues to evaluate the area’s potential.

Hydrocarbons in the Campos Basin strengthen the potential of Brava Norte

After drilling was completed, a final profile was created, revealing the presence of hydrocarbons in the subsurface . Laboratory analyses, currently underway, will characterize the fluids and reservoirs found. These results will guide future decisions regarding exploration activities in the area, which could be key to developing new oil fields in Brazil.

The Brava Norte block, where this well is located, was acquired by Petrobras in December 2022 during the first cycle of the ANP’s Permanent Production Sharing Offer. Petrobras operates this block with a 100% stake, and the consortium, with Pré-Sal Petróleo SA as the manager , will continue developing the area.

This discovery is part of a series of discoveries that reinforce the potential of the Campos Basin , which remains a strategic area for Brazil’s oil industry.
