Perenco Congo has completed the installation of the new Kombi 2 platform in the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II (KLL II) offshore field, reinforcing its turnaround strategy in mature assets assets in the country.
With an investment of more than US$200 million, the structure seeks to revitalize a field where no well has been drilled for more than two decades. This platform represents a decisive step towards more efficient and sustainable production, thanks to a design adapted to current standards and optimized technology to maximize the use of resources.
A self-sufficient energy center
The Kombi 2 platform will serve as the core for a six-well drilling campaign starting in 2026. It is equipped with enhanced water and effluent treatment systems, associated gas recovery associated gas recovery and 8 MW of gas turbine generation. These elements will reduce external energy dependence during offshore operations.
In addition, improvements have been implemented to improve operational efficiency and environmental control. Final connection work is currently underway, with commissioning scheduled for March 2026.
Commitment to the recovery of mature assets
Perenco, present in Congo since 2001, reaffirms with this project its focus on the optimization of advanced stage fields. The company is actively operating in initiatives such as PNGF Sud and Emeraude, in addition to maintaining a presence in new blocks such as Ikalou, Mwafi and Foukanda.
The strategy is not limited to maintaining production, but to increasing it through infrastructure adapted to today’s energy challenges. The installation of Kombi 2 confirms the company’s commitment to efficient, locally focused and long-term operations.
A development model that prioritizes autonomy and performance
According to Perenco, this platform not only strengthens its presence in Central Africa, but also marks a replicable model for other offshore assets. offshore assets with remaining potential. Its design includes key elements to extend the life of the KLL II field, improve environmental management and ensure energy autonomy.
Gregoire de Courcelles, CEO of Perenco Congo, highlighted that this project is“a tangible demonstration of the approach that combines technical efficiency, environmental responsibility and local value creation“.
