The signing of this agreement was one of the main activities at the “Jeollanam-do 2025 Offshore Wind Industry Expo” held at the Yeosu Convention and Exhibition Center, and recorded public-private collaboration. The event was attended by authorities including Young-rok Kim, governor of Jeollanam-do, and other officials from cities and counties involved in the development of the offshore wind cluster.

The signing of the agreement establishes a collaboration framework between Pacifico Energy Korea and the local governments of Jeollanam-do, Jindo-gun and Yeongam-gun, as well as the active participation of Yuil Co, which is a major wind equipment supplier. Through this pact, they seek to support the 3.2 GW offshore wind farm cluster project being developed in the region, founding a robust industrial ecosystem that will boost the competitiveness of the sector.

This agreement will allow Pacifico Energy Korea to lead the creation of a supply chain for essential equipment such as turbines, substructures and blades. In addition, the company will ensure the operation of back ports and the utilization of specialized vessels for the installation of the equipment.

The company has also noted that this development will contribute to consolidate Jeollanam-do as the hub of the offshore wind industry in the Asia-Pacific region. In the words of Seung-Ho Choe, representative director of Pacifico Energy Korea, the company seeks to strengthen partnerships with local companies to ensure the success of the wind project, highlighting the importance of collaborations with local suppliers such as Yuil Co.

This 3.2 GW project in Jindo is the largest of its kind in the region, and will be developed in three phases: Myeong Ryang Offshore Wind(420 MW), Manho Offshore Wind(990 MW) and Jindo Baram Offshore Wind(1.8 GW). Currently, the initial phase of Myeong Ryang is in the process of obtaining the license for commercial power generation, while the following phases are progressing in the measurement of wind resources to obtain their corresponding licenses.
