P2X Solutions and Sunfire consolidate their partnership with a 40 MW project in Finland

Planta de hidrógeno de 40 MW en Finlandia

P2X Solutions has selected German technology company Sunfire to carry out the FEED engineering study for its upcoming hydrogen project in Joensuu, eastern Finland. The plant, with an electrolysis capacity of 40 MW, will use pressurized alkaline electrolysis and is designed to produce green hydrogen for industrial and mobility purposes.

FEED for 40 MW hydrogen plant

The two companies have already worked together on the Harjavalta plant, the first to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale in Finland. With this new project in Joensuu, they aim to triple production capacity and consolidate a national hydrogen network for industrial and transportation applications.

Sunfire will provide its pressurized alkaline electrolyzer technology, recognized for its efficiency and reliability in demanding industrial environments. The FEED study will define all critical parameters for the future plant, including integration with renewable energy systems and requirements for e-methanol production. e-methanol production .

E-methanolm, a key fuel for decarbonization

The hydrogen generated will be used to synthesize synthetic methanol for sectors such as aviation and shipping. This strategy responds to the growing demand for clean fuels and strengthens Finland’s position in the European energy transition.

Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions emphasized that this new study is essential to define the technical and financial feasibility of the project. Nils Aldag, CEO of Sunfire, underlined the mutual trust and the common goal of accelerating the deployment of renewable hydrogen in Europe. renewable hydrogen in Europe .
