OSRL Technical Forum 2025: Global spill response preparedness

On December 2-4, energy industry leaders will gather in Texas to chart the future of environmental emergency response.

This December, the city of Houston, Texas, will host the OSRL 2025 Technical Forum and Annual General Meeting, an event that will bring together industry representatives, OSRL member companies, and members of the Global Subsea Response Network (GSRN) to address the most relevant challenges in oil spill response.

Organized by OSRL, the event will be a space for technical exchange, strategic cooperation and capacity building for potential oil spills in complex contexts.

Three days of technical dialogue, strategic analysis and networking

Day 1: Partnerships, analysis and consortia

The first day will begin with a welcome plenary session and will continue with updates from the main associations in the sector. It will review the lessons learned since the Macondo incident with advances in technology, regulations and protocols.

The day will conclude with a special Consortium session featuring MWCC (Marine Well Containment Company), HWCG (Helix Well Containment Group) and OSRL, who will share their approaches to critical events.

Day 2: Evolution of services and regional focus

During the second day, improvements in OSRL services and regional preparedness strategies will be highlighted, particularly in the Guyana-Suriname Basin and the Equatorial Margin.

The day will also include a review of recent collaborative exercises and case study presentations, closing with a networking session to strengthen links between companies, authorities and specialists.

In addition, the GSRN Exhibition Hall, an interactive space that showcases the collective strength of the OSRL subsea network, will be open. This meeting point will allow visitors to explore technical capabilities and exchange knowledge withindustry peers.

Day 3: Looking Ahead – OSRL’s Strategic Vision

The event will culminate with the Annual General Meeting, open only to OSRL, where members will receive critical updates on OSRL’s performance, the 2026 business plan and budget, as well as a look at the long-term strategic direction. It will close with a comprehensive look at the challenges of the future and the preparedness the industry demands.
