A new agreement between ORLEN and Naftogaz provides for the supply of more than 300 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas to Ukraine during the first quarter of 2026. The fuel will be imported from the United States, regasified by the Polish company and then transported via overland infrastructure to the Ukrainian market.
Energy cooperation in a challenging geopolitical context
The signing of the pact took place during the Transatlantic Energy and Climate Partnership Summit in Athens. The event was attended by energy ministers from countries such as Poland, Ukraine and the United States, together with senior executives from the energy sector.
An energy bridge between America and Eastern Europe
The gas will be transported in three U.S. LNG cargoes that will arrive at terminals where ORLEN already has reserved capacity. After the
ORLEN and Naftogaz Long-term vision for energy infrastructure
In addition to gas supply, the agreement is also part of the strengthening of the so-called Northern Corridor, a regional initiative that includes the development of infrastructure such as the FSRU2. This floating facility would increase regasification capacity to support neighboring countries with growing energy demands. The Polish authorities have already announced a public tender process linked to this project.
Government support and institutional backing
Both the Polish and Ukrainian governments have expressed their support for the agreement. For Ukraine, guaranteed access to U.S. gas contributes directly to stabilizing the heating season. For Poland, the deal reaffirms its role as a logistics and energy hub in the region.
The signing of this new agreement reinforces a growing trend: the consolidation of strategic energy partnerships to ensure security of supply in Eastern Europe, with the active participation of key players such as ORLEN, Naftogaz and U.S. suppliers.
