Nvidia usará IA generativa para crear “robots demasiado humanos”

Nvidia announced its GR00T (Generalist Robot Technology 00) platform, designed for the development of“all-too-human robots” and equipped with generative Artificial Intelligence, capable of adopting human-like behaviors. This advanced platform was presented at the company’s annual highlight event, where it was detailed that robots equipped with GR00T technology have the ability to process natural language and replicate human movements accurately.

What is GR00T and how does it work?

Robots incorporating GR00T stand out for their ability to efficiently learn skills such as coordination and dexterity, essential for navigating, adapting and interacting with the environment. In addition, they can execute tasks based on verbal commands, interpretation of videos, imitation of human actions and use of previous experiences.

Jensen Huang, the visionary founder and CEO of Nvidia, expressed his enthusiasm for this breakthrough, noting that the development of fundamental models for humanoid robots constitutes one of the most stimulating challenges in the field of contemporary AI.

According to Huang, the convergence of key technologies is paving the way for robotics experts from various parts of the world to make significant advances toward mainstream artificial robotics.

Nvidia advances to create all-too-human robots

Nvidia has also introduced the Jetson Thor computer, designed specifically for humanoid robots. This platform is based on the Nvidia Thor system-on-chip (SoC) and the NVIDIA IsaacTM robotics platform, which provides generative models, simulation tools and a complete infrastructure for AI workflows.

Jetson Thor represents an evolution in computing, designed to execute complex tasks and facilitate safe and natural human-machine interaction. Its modular architecture stands out for its optimized performance, energy consumption and compact dimensions.

The embedded SoC in Jetson Thor includes a next-generation GPU, based on the Blackwell architecture, also recently introduced. It incorporates a transformer engine capable of delivering 800 teraflops of AI performance to run multimodal generation algorithms.

Nvidia is collaborating on the creation of a comprehensive AI platform with leading companies in the humanoid robotics sector, such as 1X Technologies, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, Boston Dynamics and others, seeking to accelerate the development and integration of these technologies into society.

For his part, Jonathan Hurst, co-founder and director of robotics at Agility Robotics, reflected on the moment of historic change we are living through, with the emergence of human-centered robots capable of radically transforming the nature of work. Modern AI, he said, is the catalyst that will make it possible for robots like Digit to assist people in various aspects of daily life.

Likewise, Geordie Rose, co-founder and CEO of Sanctuary AI, added that the incorporation of AI will not only address major humanitarian challenges, but will also lead to innovations that are unimaginable or out of reach today.

Nvidia’s initiative to develop AI-enabled humanoid robots represents a step into the future of human-machine collaboration, where the boundary between artificial intelligence and human capability is becoming increasingly blurred, promising to revolutionize both the workplace and the personal sphere.
