Two new CSOVs (Commissioning Service Operation Vessels), the NB 975 and NB 976, are at VARD’s Langsten shipyard, marking a breakthrough in North Star’s offshore wind fleet growth strategy.
Both vessels are part of the VARD 4 22 design, developed in collaboration with VARD to meet the specific needs of the offshore sector. offshore sector.
CSOV vessels adapted to work in offshore wind farms
Each unit has been designed to offer high efficiency, operational comfort and logistical capability in complex environments. With systems that allow for the safe transfer of technicians, onboard accommodation, cargo handling and direct access to the turbines, each unit is designed to offer high efficiency, operational comfort and logistical capacity in complex environments. turbinesCSOVs have established themselves as a key player in the commissioning and maintenance phases of wind farms. wind farms.
With more than 400 million euros invested to date, North Star has the financial backing of Partners Group and other partners. It already has eight vessels delivered or under construction as part of its master plan to reach 40 offshore wind units by 2040.
Long-term collaboration
The partnership between North Star and VARD has been consolidated over the past five years, enabling a constant evolution in vessel design and operating standards. The NB 975 and 976 are not generic models, but customized units that integrate operational feedback and field-proven technology.
While the new vessels are getting ready to go into operation, VARD and North Star are already working on future classes such as the MIDIfocused on floating structures. The objective is to maintain an offer adapted to the new generation of wind farms, combining design agility with real performance.
