Oil giants such as Shell, BP, TotalEnergies, Equinor and Harbour Energy have closed deals with Flylogix, which specializes in long-range autonomous flights, with the aim of constantly and accurately measuring methane emissions on offshore platforms.
Strategic methane monitoring in the North Sea
The contracts will allow Flylogix to deploy its fleet of drones equipped with advanced sensors developed by SeekOps, with detection capabilities to quantify methane emissions with high accuracy. These devices fly over extraction areas, providing valuable data to meet carbon neutrality commitments.
Continuous aerial measurements replace more costly and less safe techniques, such as manual inspections at remote facilities. In addition, the data generated will support new UK-driven environmental regulations for the offshore energy sector.
Aberdeen-based Flylogix has grown rapidly as a leader in aerial environmental monitoring. aerial environmental monitoringestablishing the city as a hub for energy technology innovation. This contract expansion certifies the effectiveness of its technology and solidifies its collaborative approach between operators and technology companies to move towards a cleaner energy model.
Through unmanned unmanned flights and state-of-the-art sensors, operations can obtain accurate readings without interrupting production or risking personnel. The results provide traceability and transparency in emissions reporting, aspects that are increasingly valued by regulators and stakeholders.
