Nextracker expands solar power with automated foundation technology in Australia

Company launches NX Earth Truss to facilitate solar projects on complex terrain with ARENA backing

The company Nextracker presented in Australia its NX Earth Truss system, a foundation technology designed to accelerate the execution of solar projects in challenging soils such as rocky or hard soils. The deployment is supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), which seeks to expand clean energy alternatives across the country.

The technology launched reduces the need for intensive human intervention and avoids land leveling. This opens up new installation possibilities in remote regions or regions with irregular topography, where the feasibility of solar projects was previously limited. The semi-autonomous NX Truss Driver, equipped with precision GNSS technology, performs the installation in a single pass, optimizing time and resources.

The project has key partnerships with local developers, EPC contractors and Australian installers. It also highlights Nextracker’s commitment to domestic manufacturing through its agreements with Orrcon Steel and Baojia, strengthening the supply chain and local employment with the support of the Queensland Government.

Australia is the first country outside North America to deploy NX Earth Truss, following the success of its implementation in soils of varying complexity on that continent. With more than 10 GW delivered or under development in Australia since 2016, Nextracker consolidates its leadership by offering solutions that respond to the specific conditions of the territory.

NX Earth Truss minimizes environmental impact by reducing grading activities and preserving native vegetation. Combining advanced geotechnical engineering and optimized structural design, the solution is designed to meet the logistical and environmental challenges of large-scale solar power in Australia.
