The New Talara Refinery (NRT) already has all the permits for the start of its operations, which are being carried out successfully, said the president of the Petroperú board of directors, Carlos Vives Suárez. Thus, in approximately three months it would be working at 100%.

“So far, everything has been surmountable within the stipulated deadlines, with the plant operating at 100% between May and June,” Vives said during a conference with members of the Association of Foreign Press in Peru (APEP).

In addition, the start-up of the deep conversion units began in the first days of March. Similarly, between June and October, comprehensive guarantee tests will be carried out at 100% load of the entire refining complex, with the participation of the licensing companies and contractors (Técnicas Reunidas and Cobra).

It is also estimated that this year the NRT will grant Petroperú USD 500 million in EBIDTA, according to Cristina Fung, general manager of the state company.

On the other hand, heavy rains were recorded in the city of Talara (Piura), reaching the NRT facilities. In this regard, Petroperú reported that no damage has been generated that affects the dates already established for the full start of operations.

The New Talara Refinery (NRT) continues to operate normally despite the heavy rainfall affecting Piura and the northern part of the country, said Arturo Rodríguez, manager of the Talara Refinery Project department.  “We hope this storm passes quickly (…) for now we are working continuously and within schedule,” said the official on TV Peru.
