Dodge announces the launch of the “Dodge Charger 2024” and introduces the next generation of the iconic American muscle car, in both internal combustion (ICE) and electric (EV) variants.

In its efforts to to promote cleaner transportation options Dodge introduces for the first time the Charger in both ICE and electric versions, excluding its iconic HEMI V8 engine.

The company claims a high-performance version of the Charger, presumably called the SRT Banshee, which leverages an 800-volt electric architecture and all-wheel drive. According to Dodge according to Dodge, this all-wheel-drive system not only outperforms the Hellcat, but also improves all-weather capability and versatility.

It retains its performance badge, recalling the Charger Daytona that topped 200 mph in NASCAR in 1970. This parallelism between past and present highlights the automaker’s continued pursuit of performance excellence.

The contemporary design of the Charger Daytona SRT Conceptmerges aerodynamics and pays homage to the legacy of its predecessors, offering an immersive experience through interactive interior design elements, creating an ideal atmosphere for the future driver and vehicle owner.

New electric versions of the Charger

The Charger Daytona SRT Concept introduces three patent-pending innovations, among them, the R-Wing features an aerodynamic design that honors the iconic Dodge Daytona, symbolizing the perfect marriage of heritage and innovation.

In addition, the exhaust system Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, redefines the sound of electric vehicles, emulating the roar of a Charger with a HEMI engine. And finally, the eRupt technology introduces a multi-speed transmission with electromechanical shifting, offering an electrifying driving experience that encapsulates the essence of Dodge.

Some experts anticipate that the vehicles could offer models based on a 400-volt design, named 340 and 440, reflecting their power in kilowatts. In other words, the 440 model will reach a power output of 590 horsepower, while the 340 will have 456 horsepower.

Additionally, customers will have the option to increase the horsepower of their vehicles to 630 or 671 horsepower for the 440 model, and 496 or 536 horsepower for the 340. This flexibility in power configuration underscores the customization and adaptability of the Charger.

The V8 engine will not be present, Dodge will incorporate the Huracán V6 inline six-cylinder engine, which is expected to deliver 500 horsepower. This engine, which debuted in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer, bets on more efficient engine configurations without sacrificing performance.
