Gonzalo Mera Truffini, MIS Marine’s Americas Executive Manager, presented at the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) form the Organisation of American States (OAS)’s VI Hemispheric Conference on Logistics, Innovation, and Competitiveness conference on Thursday 18th January in Veracruz, Mexico. Gonzalo discussed the topic of harnessing energy efficiency by embracing the digitalisation of terminal operations.

Gonzalo shed light on the pressing need to enhance terminal operational efficiency. With a keen focus on reducing energy consumption and streamlining operational time, he emphasised the pivotal role that terminals play in driving these improvements.

Highlighting the importance of reducing operational time, Gonzalo said: ‘With the global focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, terminals must take proactive steps to minimise their carbon footprint. By leveraging advanced technology and optimising procedures, terminals can significantly streamline processes, thereby lowering energy expenditure. Such initiatives are not just beneficial from an economic standpoint, but also indicate a broader commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.

Every moment saved can lead to greater overall efficiency and cost savings, and by harnessing the potential of streamlined operations, terminals can contribute to a more seamless supply chain and ultimately enhance customer satisfaction, while contributing to a greener future.”
