Mintra has announced the acquisition of SQLearn, consolidating its commitment to technological development in the shipping sector in the Eastern Mediterranean. This operation strengthens its position as a strategic provider of specialized digital training in the maritime industry.
Expansion and acquisition of SQLearn
With this integration, Mintra seeks to expand its presence in the Hellenic maritime ecosystem, one of the most active worldwide. SQLearn, based in Piraeus, brings a strong customer base that includes more than 1,000 vessels and 150 shipping companies. Its catalog of STCW-certified digital courses covers key topics such as safety, environmental protection and operational skills.
The deal seeks to combine Mintra’s global reach with SQLearn’s deep local knowledge. Mintra’s digital platforms, such as Trainingportal and OCS HR, will benefit from the specialized content and LMS systems developed by SQLearn, designed for both shipboard and shore-based use. This merger will enable complete solutions to be offered to a user base of more than 50,000 active seafarers.
Both companies share a vision focused on transforming maritime training through technology. The new joint offering will facilitate international regulatory compliance and improve competency management in global fleets. Mintra notes that this investment is part of its commitment to modernize maritime operations in key regions, such as Greece and Southern Europe.
According to Kevin Short, CEO of Mintra, the acquisition of SQLearn represents a unique opportunity to generate sustainable value in the industry. Spyros Goumas, CEO of SQLearn, expressed his confidence that this alliance will enhance the development of local solutions with international projection.
Mintra continues a line of growth based on strategic acquisitions that include names such as Atlas Knowledge, Safebridge and Seably. This integration strengthens its ability to offer accredited training, talent management solutions and compliance tools to maritime operators around the world.
