The production of construction companies in Mexico rebounded 1.18% in September driven by works related to the oil industry, with which it obtained its best result at a monthly rate in the last four months, indicate seasonally adjusted figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
The total value of production reached 24,332 million pesos in September, which is still 3,273 million pesos away from recovering its pre-pandemic level (December 2019).
Of the six types of works that make up the construction companies, three registered advances in the month in question led by the rise of 8.62% in the oil and petrochemical sector, its fifth increase at a monthly rate.
Transportation works rebounded 3.41% from two consecutive contractions, while the category of other constructions -which includes assembly of structures, masonry work and finishes- increased 1.57%, leaving behind three months of decline.
Regarding employment in the construction industry, total employed personnel linked three months of advances after totaling 473,163 people in September, 3,467 more than in the previous month, driven by the 1.65% increase in administrative, accounting and management employees .
In its annual comparison, the production of construction companies registered a slight advance of 0.35% in September compared to the same month of 2021, enough to achieve its seventeenth consecutive advance.
