Metacon has formalized its entry into the Moroccan energy market after being awarded a contract to supply a 1 MW pressurized alkaline electrolysis plant. This agreement was signed with one of Africa’s largest wind power developers, which currently manages some 2,000 MW in renewable assets.

The plant will be installed under a “turnkey delivery model” and assembled in containers directly at the customer’s facilities. Its main objective is to serve as a technical platform for the integration of alkaline alkaline electrolysis presurized with wind power generation, facilitating the production of green hydrogen in a decentralized and off-grid manner.

This project represents the first tangible step towards a broader strategy that seeks to strengthen Morocco’s energy sources with the production of renewable hydrogen, e-fuels and green ammonia.

The company’s customer has expressed its intention to become a continental reference in hydrogen-based solutions. The collaboration with Metacon is seen as the technological basis to drive future larger-scale industrial projects.

I am very pleased to announce that Metacon has been awarded this contract with the regional energy leader in Morocco.

We hope this is the start of a long-term relationship to realize their ambitions for large-scale production of green hydrogen, e-fuels and green ammonia in Morocco and other countries.

Christer Wikner, president and chief executive officer of the company.

Metacon works closely with PERIC Hydrogen Technologies, specializing in both electrolysis solutions and catalytic reforming systems. The company is strategically positioned to meet the growing demand for hydrogen infrastructure.
