Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine announced the launch of a RAmparts 2300-W tugboat from its shipyard in Ereğli for Spanish maritime operator Remolcanosa.

The launch, which took place on July 18, reinforces the Galician company’s operational capacity in complex port maneuvers and towing operations.

About the new port tugboat

The new port vessel, designed by the Canadian firm Robert Allan Ltd, has a length of 23.40 meters and a beam of 11.90 meters. Its technological heart lies in a propulsion system with twin diesel engines and Z-drive units, which give it precise maneuverability and a bollard pull of 50 tons, ideal for demanding port environments.

In addition to its pushing capacity, the tug complies with FiFi-1 classification for firefighting and is equipped with both bow and stern winches, as well as a rear towing hook, enabling it to tackle mooring, pushing and assisting large vessels.

Construction was carried out under strict safety standards, with a welded steel hull reinforced by watertight bulkheads delimiting key areas such as engine room, fuel tanks and accommodation compartments for a crew of up to seven.
