The operator MariEnergies officially announced an oil oil discovery at the Shawal-1 well, located within the Mari D&PL development and production area in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The well was drilled to a depth of 1,136 meters in the Ghazij formation, marking a new step in its accelerated exploration program.
Details of oil discovery in the Shawal-1 well
During production testing, the well yielded a flow rate of 1,040 barrels per day of crude oil with a density of 30 degrees API, accompanied by 2.5 million cubic feet per day of associated natural gas associated. The evaluation was performed with a 32/64-inch choke and wellhead pressure of 953 psi, technical conditions that indicate initial stability in the reservoir.
According to Faheem Haider, CEO of MariEnergies, this finding represents a breakthrough achieved through the use of geoscientific technologies and the joint work of its exploration and engineering teams. The company confirmed that it will move forward with the evaluation stage to size the commercial potential of the discovery and consider future development phases.
MariEnergies’ strategic position on the energy market
MariEnergieswhich operates Pakistan’s largest gas field at Daharki, holds a 100% stake in this project. With about 23% of the domestic gas market, its strategy seeks to mitigate the decline in production through new high-yielding wells such as Shawal-1.
The country’s Petroleum Division acknowledged the company’s commitment to hydrocarbon exploration, highlighting the technical and operational focus with which it carries out this type of key project for national energy security.
