Ence Group ‘s renewable energy subsidiary, Magnon , has announced its goal of achieving a production of 2,000 GWh of renewable thermal energy by 2030. This proposal improves the biomass value chain in Spain and its commitment to the decarbonisation of the industrial sector.
Renewable thermal energy production
The company has signed agreements, such as the recent contract with Mahou San Miguel , one of the main brewing companies in the country. This agreement includes the installation of two biomass boilers of 10 MWt each in its factory in Alovera ( Guadalajara ), with a total investment of 16 million euros and an annual supply of 85 GWht of renewable thermal energy.
The commitment to biomass will allow Mahou San Miguel to reduce direct CO₂ emissions by up to 95% at its plant, which is the largest brewery in Spain and one of the most advanced in Europe. In addition, this project has a subsidy of 4 million euros through the PERTE for decarbonisation.
Since 2023, the company has had a contract with a company in the agri-food sector for renewable thermal energy services. The company is currently managing three new projects in the pipeline that will together produce 130 GWht/year. The forecast is for these initiatives to begin construction in 2025.
With a strategy based on sustainability and innovation, Magnon is in negotiations with ten other industrial clients interested in implementing renewable energy solutions. Its goal for 2030 involves increasing its production capacity and generating more than 40 million euros in EBITDA.
