magniX has launched its new HeliStorm range of engines , specifically designed for electric helicopters. This innovative engine series seeks to redefine the future of vertical flight by offering lighter, more efficient, and more powerful solutions for electric helicopters of all types, from lightweight single-engine helicopters to larger hybrid-electric twin-engine helicopters.
HeliStorm engines for electric helicopters
The electric motors are the result of years of experience and extensive testing in electric aviation. Combined with magniX’s Samson batteries, they offer an integrated system for electrifying aircraft, covering a wide range of applications, from commercial transport to airborne power generation.
With a maximum power output of 330 kW and a weight of only 75 kg, these engines are lighter than the turbine engines used in similar helicopters. They also feature an operating speed range of 6,000 to 7,000 RPM, ensuring optimal performance under a variety of conditions.
For magniX , the helicopter industry represents a significant opportunity to apply its expertise in electric propulsion systems. Reed Macdonald, the company’s CEO, said: “HeliStorm engines expand our capabilities and offer a step change in performance, reliability, and value for our customers. We’re excited to bring our innovative technology to another segment of aviation.”
Collaboration with Robinson Helicopters
In addition to its own development, magniX has forged a strong relationship with Robinson Helicopters, the world’s leading manufacturer of civil helicopters. David Smith, CEO of Robinson Helicopters, said: “Our collaboration with magniX has been key in advancing the development of electric helicopters. HeliStorm engines allow us to continue delivering sustainable products that transform the industry.”
With this partnership and the launch of the new engine range, magniX is consolidating its position as a leader in aviation electrification, opening up new possibilities for a cleaner and more efficient future in air transport.
