116 offshore wind turbines in Germany

This main agreement provides for the supply of 97 state-of-the-art turbines, each with a capacity of 15.5 megawatts, for the 1,500 MW Waterekke wind farm. In addition, Luxcara has booked an additional 19 turbines for the 300 MW capacity Waterkant wind farm, which will be connected to the national grid in mid-2028.

The coordination between Waterekke and Waterkant will allow us to optimize processes, reduce risks and accelerate the delivery of renewable energy to millions of homes.

Holger Matthiesen, CEO of both project entities.

Both projects are located in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the German North Sea, at sites N-9.3 and N-6.7 respectively. The auctions that awarded the construction rights valued financial criteria and social and environmental impacts, strengthening Luxcara’s sustainable approach.

With an integrated capacity of 1,800 MW, the wind farms are wind farms will supply more than 2.4 million households, contributing to the German government’s goal of reaching 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and achieving an energy matrix made up of 80 % renewable sources.
