Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) has taken a new step in the modernization of its operations with the incorporation of a Liebherr LHM 600 mobile crane , capable of handling loads of up to 154 tons and with a reach of 61 meters. The structure of this powerful crane arrived at site 3 of the port on board the ship Cóndor Bilbao, in a maneuver that was executed successfully and without setbacks.
ITI incorporates mobile crane in Tarapacá
ITI Operations Manager Cristopher Lopez explained that the crane unloading was carried out with the support of a specialized team, even achieving tandem movements to ensure a safe and precise installation.
Our collaborators demonstrated their experience in complex maneuvers, allowing us to strengthen our operational capacity and optimize the cargo transfer service we offer our clients.
Lopez stressed.
Furthermore, this acquisition of the LHM 600 crane is just the beginning of a broader expansion and efficiency plan, as ITI has confirmed the arrival of a second dock crane by 2025. These advances are aligned with ITI’s strategic objective of improving the competitiveness of the port of Iquique in maritime trade in the Tarapacá region, consolidating itself as a key point for importers and exporters in the area.
With this investment, ITI seeks to respond more effectively to the needs of current maritime trade, providing higher levels of security, quality and speed in its port operations . This strategy will boost the economic development of Tarapacá, which will position Iquique among the most efficient ports in the region, being a reference center for the traffic of goods in northern Chile.
