President Sadyr Japarov mentioned that subway gold mining eliminates the need to excavate large amounts of waste rock, a common practice in open pit mining that creates an impact on the landscape.

The president also emphasized that this method is essential for the protection of glaciers, which are considered a national heritage of Kyrgyzstan. With an estimated life span of 17 years, the geological reserves of this project add 147 tons of gold to the country’s balance sheet.

The Kumtor field, according to the president, has a promising future and a projected useful life of 40 to 50 years more. The company will continue with open-pit mining in mined areas and will complement its operations with this new subway mining method. This hybrid model ensures a constant flow of production for the benefit of the national economy.

In addition, the president learned about other ongoing projects, such as exploration in the Jangart area and the modernization of the Balykchy classification station. With a successful financial track record, the company has transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to the state budget in recent years, demonstrating that mining can be a sustainable source of wealth when managed responsibly and with new technologies.
