Kongsberg Maritime secures azimuth thruster contracts with Sanmar Shipyards

Kongsberg Maritime has signed an agreement with Sanmar Shipyards to supply 17 azimuth thrusters for a series of new tugboats. This collaboration strengthens the long-term relationship between the two companies, based on trust and technological innovation.

Assignment of 17 azimuth thrusters

Sanmar Shipyards, recognized for its expertise in building high quality tugboats, has been working with Kongsberg for years. With almost 50 years of history in the industry and more than 300 tugs delivered worldwide, Sanmar continues to strengthen its position as a major player in the design and construction of towboats.

These latest contracts with Sanmar Shipyards consolidate our long and successful relationship with one of Turkey’s leading tugboat builders.

We are pleased to sign these contracts, totaling 34 azimuth thrusters for 17 new tugs, and look forward to delivering and commissioning these efficient and powerful propulsion systems for various projects.

The thrusters supplied by Kongsberg have power ratings ranging from 1,765 kW to 2,525 kW, offering a pulling force of between 60 and 85 tons. These characteristics make the propulsion systems ideal for demanding towing operations in ports and international maritime areas.
