At the annual conference held this week in Nashville, leaders of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance ( AMPP ) shared the initiatives that will shape the organization’s direction in 2025. A promising start in Nashville

One of the most significant announcements was the reorientation of AMPP’s philanthropic arm, its 501(c)(3) organization, which will now focus exclusively on workforce development. This new strategy seeks to reduce the skills gap in essential trades such as coating applicators, cathodic protection inspectors, and other key technical disciplines.

The initiative is led by Kelsey May , CEO of ONEMESA, who is taking over as president of this renewed entity. The goal is to offer education and certification, as well as increase the availability of trained professionals to meet the global demand in the sector.

AMPP consolidates its leadership with collaborative management

During the interview, Alan Thomas emphasized the organizational effort involved in holding the annual event, which this year brings together more than 6,200 attendees.

This type of conference is planned up to six years in advance. Our team works tirelessly to offer an unprecedented experience to our members and strategic partners.

The CEO noted.

For his part, Juan Caballero highlighted the joint work of the board and executive management to strengthen AMPP’s international presence.

The strategy we’ve developed is taking the organization to a new level. Today, AMPP is better positioned than ever to grow and serve our members globally.

He stated.

Both leaders agreed that collaboration between the board of directors, executive management, and the AMPP team has been key to moving steadily toward a more inclusive, connected, and challenge-prepared future for the material protection industry.

The AMPP conference continues to develop with a packed technical agenda, the participation of new regional chapters, and a growing international presence, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and professional development at a global level.
