Hewlett Packard Enterprise is looking to tap into the demand for Generative Artificial Intelligence tools and has introduced a cloud service to handle the huge computing power needed to support the new technology.
The product, called HPE GreenLake for Large Language Models, follows previous AI cloud offerings from major public cloud providers including Amazon.com Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Alphabet Inc’s Google. Its service is powered by the great language models of German AI startup Aleph Alpha that analyze and create text from the indications of the users.
“We have reached a generational shift in the AI market that will be as transformative as the web, mobile and cloud,” AI CEO Antonio Neri said Tuesday in a statement announcing the new product. .
HPE: Expanding your services
HPE has stopped relying on selling traditional hardware such as computer servers and has expanded its information technology services. Last month, the company reported that sales at its high-performance computing and artificial intelligence unit rose 18% to $840 million in the quarter ended April 30.
Unlike general public cloud services, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s product is “uniquely designed to run a large-scale AI training and simulation workload, and with full compute power,” the company said with Headquartered in Spring, Texas. Aleph Alpha’s software, Luminous, is a pre-trained commercial large language model that is offered in multiple languages.
“Organizations can now embrace AI to drive innovation, disrupt markets and achieve breakthroughs with an on-demand cloud service that trains, tunes and deploys models, at scale and responsibly,” Neri said.
