Google and Elementl Power signed a strategic agreement to identify and develop three sites in the U.S. to deploy advanced nuclear advanced nuclear power projects. This collaboration aims to respond to the growing requirement for clean and continuous energy, especially driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence and data centers.
Advanced nuclear power for data centers
The demand for energy from digital infrastructure has increased significantly. Google, aware of this reality, will provide upfront development capital to accelerate the evaluation, permitting and interconnections of the selected sites. Each project will have an estimated capacity of at least 600 megawatts of emission-free electricity.
Elementl Power, a company established in 2022 to catalyze private investment in nuclear nuclear technologiesseeks to establish a scalable model for the acquisition of nuclear energy without consumers having to operate nuclear assets. With this partnership, both companies are committed to reliable and sustainable energy solutions that are safely integrated into power grids.
Innovation and collaboration to accelerate the transition
In addition to financial backing, Google is committed to considering the commercial purchase of electricity once the projects are operational. Elementl Power will work with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partners, as well as utilities, to move quickly toward commissioning.
The initiative aligns with a growing trend in the technology sector: looking for nuclear solutions to meet the 24/7 demand of the data centerswithout increasing carbon emissions. Elementl Power’s expertise and Google’s Google’s strategic commitment mark a firm step towards a cleaner and more stable energy future.
