The ambitious Golden Pass LNG project in Texas is back on track after Chiyoda Corporation and CB&I reached an agreement with Golden Pass LNG to continue construction of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal . This project aims to increase natural gas liquefaction and export capacities, consolidating Golden Pass LNG as one of the main players in the North American energy market.
Golden Pass LNG strengthens its export infrastructure
Located in the heart of the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Golden Pass LNG terminal has historically been an LNG import facility . However, with this expansion, the infrastructure will be transformed into a liquefied natural gas export facility, with an estimated annual capacity of 18 million tons of LNG . The facility will leverage existing facilities, but will also include new liquefaction units and advanced storage systems.
The agreement between Chiyoda Corporation and CB&I comes at a key time for the project, which represents an investment of 10 billion dollars . This expansion has a direct impact on LNG production and generates thousands of jobs and significant contributions to the local economy. During the construction phase, more than 19,000 jobs are expected, with more than 200 permanent jobs once the plant is operational.
With this agreement, Golden Pass strengthens its ability to meet the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy around the world. The partnership with giants such as ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy reinforces the project’s position as one of the pillars in the transition towards cleaner energy sources . The strategic location at the port of Sabine Pass , in Texas, facilitates access to international markets, providing a competitive advantage in the export of LNG globally.
