Seaspan Energy, has introduced the Seaspan Lions, the second 7,600 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessel.
Seaspan Lions, the LNG bunkering vessel
The three vessels, named after iconic West Coast mountains, will be pioneers in offering liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering services on the West Coast of North America, with the Seaspan Lions and Seaspan Garibaldi scheduled for delivery in 2024 and the third in 2025. The latter will be stationed in the Panama region.
Seaspan Energy President Ian McIver highlighted the importance of closing the LNG infrastructure gap on the West Coast, which is crucial for the creation of new markets for lower-emission fuel markets and fostering a more sustainable maritime industry.
Seaspan Energy has worked closely with the Canadian team at Vard Marine on the design of these LNG bunkering vessels. The vessels were built by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) in China, stand out for their underwater noise-reducing design and their ability to safely, efficiently and economically refuel different types of vessels, as well as their ability to transfer to and from a wide range of terminals.
A cleaner future for the shipbuilding industry
It is 112.8 meters long, 18.6 meters wide and has a draft of 5 meters, these vessels are designed to reach a speed of 13 knots.and represent more than 30 LNG carriers delivered by one of the world’s most experienced shipyards in small-scale gas carriers.
With the arrival of the Seaspan Lions and its vessels in the LNG bunkering industry, enabling ship-to-ship transfer operations and short-sea and coastal shipping operations.
