From Zwenkau, Saxony, OPES Solar Mobility has launched its new line of flexible solar panels for vehicles, marking the beginning of a key stage in the electrification of transportation. electrification of heavy and recreational and recreational transport. The O.Motion range will be produced locally from autumn, integrating a high-performance technical architecture adapted to mobile requirements.

Improved performance even in partial shade

The novelty is based on a matrix structure, in which the photovoltaic cells are photovoltaic cells are distributed in a masonry-like configuration. This arrangement makes it possible to maintain energy efficiency in adverse conditions, such as changing shading, a frequent situation in moving vehicles.

The use of conductive adhesives replaces traditional solder tapes, reducing electrical losses and increasing durability against vibrations and high temperatures.

Direct impact on diesel consumption

The O.Motion system is specially designed for vehicles with large roof surfaces, such as trucks and motorhomes. These transports are often equipped with intensive electrical devices: refrigerators, lifting platforms or air conditioning systems. The solar installation system relieves the load on the alternator and reduces the use of the engine to power these systems.

According to OPES, even light vehicles can benefit. With an installed power of 800 W, a reduction of up to 9% in fuel consumption can be achieved. In the case of semi-trailers, the generation capacity can reach 5 kW, matching the power of a standard domestic installation.

Energy efficiency of flexible solar panels

Technological innovation improves power generation and extends battery life by avoiding deep discharge cycles. In addition, reduced sensitivity to dirt accumulation and high performance in partially shaded areas make this solution a practical choice for applications in constant motion.

The official presentation will take place at The Smarter E 2025, where OPES is among the finalists for the electric mobility award. The collaboration with Fraunhofer institutes and industry manufacturers reinforces the technical validation of this breakthrough, which is already projected as a standard for solar vehicle integration.
