SOLARCYCLE has announced a 5 GW solar recycling plant in Cedartown, Georgia . This facility, in collaboration with Governor Brian P. Kemp, promises to transform end-of-life solar panel management in the United States and is expected to be operational in 2025.
The facility, which will span 255,000 square feet, will have the capacity to recycle 10 million solar panels each year, ensuring the recovery of up to 99% of the materials . Initially, it will process 2 million panels annually and will expand as demand from the solar sector grows. This project will be an essential component of the national strategy to close the solar materials loop and foster a circular economy.
Additionally, the plant will be built adjacent to SOLARCYCLE’s solar glass factory , which is the first in the U.S. to produce crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass . Together, these facilities will employ more than 1,250 full-time workers and support sustainable domestic manufacturing.
