Gastech 2025 kicks off highlighting innovations in the energy sector

Gastech 2025 kicked off today at Fiera Milano, bringing together more than 50,000 attendees from over 150 countries, making Milan the epicenter of innovation in the energy sector. Now in its 53rd edition, the event brings together industry leaders, policy makers, innovators, practitioners and experts to address the priorities of the global energy sector.

High-level speeches at Gastech 2025

During the opening ceremony, Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director General for Energy of the European Commission, emphasized the importance of clean energy and how natural gas will continue to be a pillar of energy security in the years to come.

In his speech he underlined the importance of building resilient and sustainable energy systems in Europe and emphasized that, despite the transition to climate neutrality in 2050, fossil fuels will continue to be a major source of energy for Europe. fossil fuels will remain an essential part of the energy mix for years to come.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum offered an inspiring approach as he shared his vision during the inauguration, stressing that collaboration and pragmatism are essential to navigating the complex global energy landscape.

At the opening, 25 ministers from Europe, Africa and the Middle East, along with CEOs from energy giants such as Shell, TotalEnergies, Eni, Cheniere Energy, Vitol and Uniper, were present to initiate a series of key discussions and collaborations to diversify energy supplies and accelerate the transformation to a low-carbon energy future.

Innovation, gas and decarbonization as central themes

The inaugural day also highlighted Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eniwho emphasized the need for long-term energy portfolios that integrate technologies to reduce emissions without losing economic viability.

Decarbonization, new climate technologies and energy AI were crucial topics, with global experts discussing their impact on the future of the sector.

The day also hosted a large exhibition with the participation of more than 1,000 exhibitors and 20 national pavilions, presenting technological innovations in key areas such as hydrogen, LNG, AI and climate technologies. This platform serves as the meeting place for decision makers, investors and companies seeking sustainable solutions to global energy challenges.
