The FPSO Sepetibachartered by Petrobras, has achieved a significant amount of oil production in the Santos Basin pre-salt region. This floating production unit reached a peak production of 180 million barrels of oil per day (bpd) in the Mero field, after only eight months of operations.

FPSO Sepetiba achieves rapid increase at Mero

This achievement was possible thanks to the efficient preparation of the oil treatment and gas compression systems. gas compression FPSO Sepetiba’s oil treatment and gas compression systems, as well as the excellent productivity of the wells in the Mero field. In addition, the subsea interconnection process was completed five months ahead of schedule, reducing the usual time for this activity by 18%. This allowed for an accelerated increase in oil production production on the platform, a process known as ramp-up.

The FPSO Sepetiba, which began production on December 31, 2023, is anchored about 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in waters 2,000 meters deep. Equipped with advanced technologies, this platform vessel incorporates innovative solutions such as Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), which allowCO2-rich gas to be reinjected into the reservoir, reducing the greenhouse gas emissions.

With Sepetiba’s entry into full production, the Mero field has surpassed 410,000 barrels of oil per day. Petrobras, which leads the operation with a 38.6% stake, is collaborating in this project with international partners such as Shell Brazil, TotalEnergies, CNPC and CNOOC. international partners such as Shell Brasil, TotalEnergies, CNPC and CNOOC, in addition to Pré-Salvador.and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA, which represents the Brazilian government.
