Fortis Energy has integrated the Çobanlar biogas power plant, located in Afyon, with an installed capacity of 3.55 MWe, into its portfolio. This addition strengthens its growth strategy in the bioenergy sector and reinforces its commitment to a sustainable energy model.

The biogas plant will make use of agricultural waste

In operation since 2021, the plant processes about 100,000 tons per year of agricultural and livestock waste, converting it into more than 26 GWh of electricity through anaerobic digestion. This method contributes to the supply of renewable energy and also offers an efficient solution for the organic waste management.

The operation of Çobanlar BES has a direct impact on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, avoiding the release of methane into the atmosphere. In addition, the by-product generated in the process is used as an organic fertilizer. organic fertilizerenriching agricultural soils and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.

With this integration, Fortis ‘ biogas portfolio now consists of five plants: four in Turkey and one in Serbia, with a total capacity of more than 21 MWe. Together, these facilities produce more than 190 GWh per year, contributing to the energy transition and the development of a circular economy.
