Equinor has signed a gas supply agreement with Pražská plynárenská, Prague’s main energy company, guaranteeing the supply of natural gas to the Czech Republic until 2035. The contract is in force and represents a new development in Equinor’s expansion strategy in Central Europe.
Gas supply and strategic cooperation
The agreement strengthens the stability of energy supply in the region. The gas will be delivered by pipeline from the Norwegian continental shelf, considered one of the most important sources of energy in Europe. Pražská plynárenská will use this resource to provide heat, electricity and natural gas to thousands of Czech households and businesses.
The agreement has a term of 10 years, valid until October 1, 2035. Although the specific terms have not been made public, both parties emphasize the strategic value of the agreement.
This contract complements other similar contracts signed recently in Europe and consolidates its role as a reliable gas as a reliable supplier of gas. For Pražská plynárenská, it represents a guarantee of supply for a large part of its customer base.
Although mainly focused on northwest Europe and the United Kingdom, Equinor has extended its delivery network to the Baltic countries and Poland in recent years. The new agreement with the Czech Republic marks the consolidation of its presence in the heart of the continent.
Pražská plynárenská operates a gas distribution network covering nearly 4,500 kilometers in Prague and surrounding areas. Through its subsidiary Prometheus, it is also involved in the development of integrated heating solutions aligned with the city’s Climate Plan.
