Eos Energy Enterprises to expand battery production with a multi-million dollar investment

Eos Energy Enterprises announced the relocation of its headquarters from New Jersey to Pittsburgh and the expansion of its zinc battery manufacturing plant in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The business decision comes with a $352.9 million investment and a commitment to create 735 new jobs.

The operation is part of a plan to scale up domestic production of domestic production of batteries for energy storage, consolidating for energy storage, cementing Pennsylvania as a strategic hub in the transition to clean sources. The announcement was endorsed by Governor Josh Shapiro, who underscored his administration’s role in attracting private investment to spur regional economic growth.

The state of Pennsylvania will support the project with an incentive package valued at $22 million, including grants and equity financing. This collaboration aims to strengthen the domestic energy supply chain by promoting U.S.-made technologies such as Eos’ Z3 zinc batteries.

In addition to the move to the Nova Place building, scheduled for 2026, the company will expand its 432,000-square-foot plant in Marshall Township, allowing it to increase its production capacity and maintain a strong base of operations in the southwestern part of the state.

As part of the announcement, Eos also presented a strategic collaboration with Talen Energy Corporation. The agreement seeks to develop storage projects that respond to the growing electrical demand linked to digital infrastructure. Existing power generation assets will be used in conjunction with Eos’ battery technology to deliver large-scale storage solutions.

The company will strengthen its ties with academic institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University to promote research in advanced energy technologies. This synergy between industry and technical knowledge is key to consolidating Pennsylvania’s position as a benchmark in energy innovation.

Since taking office, Shapiro has prioritized economic growth through policies that combine industrial development and sustainability. According to official data, the state has attracted almost US$26 billion in private investment and generated more than 13,200 jobs since the beginning of his administration.
