ENEOS Drilling signs drilling contract for the HAKURYU-14 rig in Vietnam

Oil company ENEOS Drilling Limited ( EDL ) has signed a major agreement with Japan Vietnam Petroleum Company for the supply of the HAKURYU-14 jack-up rig for drilling in Block 15-2 , located off the coast of Vung Tau, Vietnam.

The HAKURYU-14 platform contract

The contract has an initial commitment to drill two wells over approximately 110 days, with an expected start between late May and mid-June 2025. The HAKURYU-14 rig will be responsible for these deepwater operations , where its ability to operate efficiently and safely is critical to the success of this project.

The HAKURYU-14 jackup rig , a state-of-the-art jackup unit, is distinguished by its high operational capacity and reliability in extreme sea conditions. Furthermore, its use in Block 15-2 is vital for ENEOS Drilling , which is seeking to consolidate its presence in the offshore drilling sector, particularly in the Asian region.

This contract represents a further step in ENEOS’ expansion into the global energy sector, highlighting its commitment to developing offshore projects in Southeast Asia. With Vietnam being one of the countries with the greatest potential for hydrocarbon resources , this agreement strengthens ENEOS’ strategic position in the international drilling market.
