Electra has secured an impressive 2,200 pre-orders for its EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft . With a total value of nearly $9 billion, this order book positions Electra as one of the leading players in the advanced air mobility sector.

The EL9 hybrid-electric aircraft and its technology

The EL9 aircraft has a unique takeoff and landing capability of just 45 meters , making it ideal for operating in confined spaces and locations with limited infrastructure, such as grass fields or converted helipads. By utilizing boost lift and hybrid-electric propulsion, the aircraft offers an efficient and affordable solution for connecting communities in areas without airports, while reducing operating costs and environmental impact.

Hybrid-electric propulsion allows us to do what traditional fuel can’t. We’ve created a fixed-wing aircraft that offers the capabilities of a helicopter with 100 times less noise and 70% less cost, while improving safety and reducing emissions.

Marc Allen, CEO of Electra.

This nine-passenger aircraft, with a range of up to 1,770 km, is an attractive option for a variety of customers, ranging from private operators to commercial air transport companies. The EL9’s ability to operate from unconditioned surfaces opens up new routes and business opportunities, also facilitating regional air mobility for cargo and passengers.

Electra’s new customers include companies from Turkey, Senegal, Nigeria, Denmark, and Brazil, which have joined Bristow Group , JetSetGo , and other major operators. Customers value the EL9 ‘s advantages in terms of sustainability, noise reduction, and operational profitability.
