The Spanish company Ecoener obtained international Gold Standard certification for its Payita 1 solar plant, located in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez, in the north of the Dominican Republic. This distinction was endorsed by organizations such as WWF, which endorses the positive environmental impact of the project and its real contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Payita 1 solar plant project

With an installed capacity of 60 MWp, the Payita 1 plant is designed to generate up to 127 GWh of renewable energy annually, avoiding the emission of approximately 91,000 tons of CO₂ each year. The facility operates under strict quality, transparency and traceability criteria, validated by Offcarbon, a firm specialized in verifying sustainable projects.

This validation recognizes Payita 1 as a facility with the capacity to generate high-integrity carbon credits, integrating it into international carbon offset markets and strengthening the region’s energy security.

The company had already achieved the issuance of carbon credits with the Cumayasa 1 and 2 plants, also in the Dominican Republic. This new milestone positions Ecoener as one of the most active players in verified solar power generation. verified solar energy generation under international under international standards in the Caribbean region.

With this certification, the company strengthens its commitment to ensure that all its facilities, both photovoltaic and wind, have climate verification mechanisms or energy certificates, improving its participation as a benchmark in the ecological transition.
