Fugro has been selected by RWE and Masdar to carry out seabed geotechnical studies at the Dogger Bank South (DBS) offshore wind project sites , taking advantage of the potential located in the North Sea.

The Dogger Bank South offshore wind project

This development project covers two areas, DBS East and DBS West , each with a capacity of 1.5 GW, extending over a total of 500 square kilometers and located more than 100 kilometers from the northeast coast of England.

The objective assigned to Fugro, which involves the vessels Fugro Quest, Fugro Voyager and Normand Mermaid, will consist of carrying out subsurface investigations using Cone Penetration Tests (CPT) and sampling surveys.

These studies will provide essential data for the planning and construction of the turbine foundations and associated underwater infrastructure , planned to begin in late 2025, with the expectation that the first 800 MW of electricity will be online by 2029.

The results of the technical studies

RWE has mentioned in official social media posts that the results of these surveys will offer a detailed and accurate perspective of soil conditions . This essential information will allow you to optimally design both the foundations and the site layout cables.

Last March, Masdar acquired a 49% stake in DBS projects , consolidating its commitment to development and collaboration in future related marine projects.
