The company Denso, with more than 90 years of experience in corrosion prevention, was present at the NISTEM 2025 event, with a clear objective: to protect industrial assets effectively and durably. In an interview with Rick Lujano, territory manager specialized in tank coatings, the specialist detailed the advances and challenges faced by the company in the oil sector.
Corrosion prevention technologies for industry
During the interview, Lujano emphasized that chemical and thermal resistance is a critical factor in protection of tanks. To this end, Denso offers a range of liquid epoxy coatings adapted to extreme conditions, including high temperatures and contact with aggressive chemicals. Each formulation is designed for specific applications, ensuring the structural longevity of the assets.
On the other hand, the use of viscoelastic tapes and mastics for the external protection of tanks are technologies that allow the complete sealing of the tank base, preventing the intrusion of moisture and eliminating corrosion cells.
By encapsulating, the corrosion cycle is interrupted: without air and water, degradation does not occur.
Lujano explained.
The company has developed a portfolio ranging from high performance internal coatings to external protection systems with water barrier properties. This diversity allows the company to meet the needs of sectors such as oil, gas, chemical and water storage. The combination of liquid and solid solutions ensures comprehensive coverage of tanks.
It also maintains a balance between proven technologies and continuous development. Petrolatum tape, used for more than nine decades, continues to prove effective in demanding environments. At the same time, the company seeks to remain current by improving formulations and adapting to new industry standards.
