During an interview, Eric Uutala highlighted Cortec’s core mission: to offer efficient and versatile solutions to corrosion problems in various industries. The Minnesota, USA-based company develops and manufactures more than 500 anticorrosion products, ranging from packaging films to paints, additives and specialty cleaners all designed to suit different types of metals and environmental conditions.

Anti-corrosion solutions with VCI technology

Uutala explained that the metals most prone to corrosion are low-grade steels, carbon steel and cast iron, especially when they are in saline, wet or coastal environments. Faced with this challenge, Cortec offers a wide range of vapor corrosion inhibitors (VCI), a technology with more than 80 years of use, which the company has refined and adapted to work in conjunction with traditional methods such as cathodic protection.

Cortec is currently collaborating with regulatory agencies such as FEMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, USA) on experiments demonstrating the efficacy of VCIs in storage tanks, studying how these compounds move through sandy bases and protect metals from the subsurface.

One of the company’s key pillars is its commitment to quality: Cortec manufactures all its products in-house, controls every stage from raw material to finished product, and operates its own laboratories at each plant, certified under ISO standards.

Everything we manufacture has been tested to our standards.

Uutala stated.

Ensuring that this philosophy allows them to offer total quality control and best industry practices.
