The international energy industry sees a new strategic move. Corinth Pipeworks, the steel pipe division of Cenergy Holdings, has signed an agreement to acquire an LSAW pipe mill located in Hartlepool, United Kingdom. The transaction, formalized on March 4, 2026, involves a total consideration of £10 million.

The historic Hartlepool LSAW pipe mill

The Hartlepool plant has nearly a century of industrial activity. Since its founding in 1926, the facility has been involved in supplying steel pipes for some of the world’s most demanding energy projects.

Major energy companies such as Shell, BP, Total, and Equinor have turned to this infrastructure for the development of oil and gas transport systems. Likewise, subsea engineering specialists like Subsea 7 and Saipem have used these solutions in highly complex offshore operations.

Expansion of LSAW pipe production capacity

Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding technology, known as LSAW, allows for the manufacture of large-diameter pipes capable of withstanding extreme pressure and operating conditions. These features make them key components for gas pipelines, oil pipelines, and deepwater energy projects.

With the integration of the British plant, Corinth Pipeworks expects to significantly expand its industrial capacity in this segment. The operation will double the group’s LSAW pipe production and facilitate the execution of large-scale energy projects in various international markets.

Key infrastructure for the energy transition

The Hartlepool facility also aligns with UK industrial priorities related to the modernization of energy infrastructure.

The steel pipes produced in these types of plants are essential for high-pressure hydrogen transport and carbon capture and storage systems. These technologies are part of global efforts to reduce emissions and strengthen energy security.

Likewise, the reshoring of industrial supply chains in Europe boosts the relevance of strategic manufacturing facilities within the continent.

A commitment to large-scale energy projects

Cenergy Holdings highlights that the acquisition expands the group’s capabilities to participate in complex energy transport projects.

The combination of a plant with a long industrial track record and Corinth Pipeworks’ technological expertise will allow for the delivery of high-performance piping solutions for global energy sector clients.

With a presence in over 50 countries, the company continues to strengthen its position as a specialized provider of steel pipes for critical applications in energy infrastructure and industrial construction.
