The Yara Eyde will operate on the Oslo-Porsgrunn-Bremerhaven-Rotterdam route, connecting industrial clusters through a carbon-free logistics solution. With this initiative, its promoters are seeking to demonstrate the potential of ammonia as a clean and efficient fuel, especially in short-haul operations.

Yara Clean Ammonia emphasizes that this project is a tangible demonstration of its commitment to emission-free shipping. The company is currently the world’s largest ammonia operator and has the most extensive logistics network in the sector.

With 15 vessels in operation and global access to terminals as production facilities, Yara is strategically strengthened to lead the transition to alternative fuels. The choice of ammonia as a solution is based on its ability to integrate into existing infrastructure and its potential to minimize emissions from the maritime sector.

North Sea Container Line, responsible for operating the vessel, has mentioned that this collaboration strengthens its objectives of offering sustainable logistics solutions without compromising commercial efficiency. According to its CEO, the integration of the Yara Eyde into the fleet demonstrates that it is possible to innovate without losing competitiveness.

For its part, CMB.TECH provides the propulsion technology that allows the use of ammonia as the main fuel. This technology becomes a central axis for the development of carbon-free ships in the near future.

The use of low-emission ammonia is emerging as one of the strongest bets for cleaner shipping. By eliminating carbon emissions on high industrial traffic routes, the Yara Eyde becomes concrete proof of how innovative technologies can be applied today.
