Constellation CEO Joe Dominguez highlighted the relevance of nuclear power plants as reliable sources of energy. According to Dominguez, these facilities are critical to meeting energy needs in critical sectors, such as data centers, which rely on constant electricity consumption. The new project will honor Chris Crane, former CEO of Constellation, who dedicated his career to the safe growth of the nuclear industry. nuclear industry.

The agreement with Microsoft has a major impact on the technology company, which is looking to use carbon-free energy for its data centers. Microsoft’s vice president of energy, Bobby Hollis, commented that this agreement is a step towards its goal of reducing its carbon footprint by using more sustainable energy sources.

The CCEC will create approximately 3,400 direct and indirect jobs and generate more than 800 megawatts of clean energy for the grid. In addition, the plant’s reactivation is expected to contribute $16 billion to Pennsylvania’s GDP and $3 billion in state and federal taxes.

Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council President Rob Bair stressed that this project will strengthen the local economy and make Pennsylvania a benchmark in clean energy, ensuring reliable jobs for decades to come.

Public support for the project is strong, with 70% of state residents supporting the use of nuclear power, according to a recent poll. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro praised the initiative for its impact on reducing energy costs and improving grid reliability. In addition, the nuclear plant, now called Crane Clean Energy Center, will continue to operate under strict state and federal regulation, ensuring that safety remains a priority.
