Anthony Veder has made a breakthrough in the maritime sector by becoming the first company to install VentoFoils on a gas carrier . By installing two of these sails on its Coral Patula vessel, the company is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency in maritime transport . This breakthrough is the result of a collaboration with Econowind, who provided the VentoFoils technology to power gas carriers with wind energy.

Fuel savings with VentoFoils sails

This innovative system allows fuel consumption to be reduced by up to 10% under optimal wind conditions, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions . Anthony Veder plans to implement the same technology on his Coral Pearl vessel later this year, as part of his strategy to reach net zero emissions by 2035.

Björn van de Weerdhof, commercial director of Anthony Veder, underlined the importance of these actions: “Achieving our climate goals requires action today. Wind-assisted propulsion is key to reducing our carbon footprint across our current fleet, while we continue to develop new sustainable solutions. ”.

Rens Groot, COO of Econowind, highlighted the success of the project thanks to thorough analysis and effective collaboration: ” VentoFoils not only improves the speed and efficiency of gas carriers, but also offers a rapid return on investment .”

By implementing this technology, Anthony Veder improves the efficiency of its fleet and also reinforces its leadership in the transition to cleaner energy in the maritime industry .
