Empresa recibe 317M€ para producción de hidrógeno

The Italian company Ansaldo Green Tech, a subsidiary of Ansaldo Energia, has received a €317 million grant for the development and production of hydrogen using AEM (anion exchange membrane) electrolysers . The funding was granted by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy following the approval of the IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) project by the European Commission.

Hydrogen production for the energy transition

The project, called IANUS, seeks to accelerate the energy transition through the production of green hydrogen . The initiative involves the construction of a new AEM electrolyser manufacturing line at the Genoa plant, the expansion of research laboratories and the development of modular solutions for large-scale industrial applications.

AEM electrolysers stand out for their capacity to produce more than 500 kg of hydrogen per day with high energy efficiency, lower water consumption and reduced use of critical raw materials. These characteristics position them as a more sustainable option compared to other electrolysis technologies available on the market.

First results

In November 2024, Ansaldo Green Tech closed the sale of its first 1 MW AEM electrolyzer, an achievement that marks the beginning of the commercialization of this technology in the international market.

The financing received represents a key boost for the company in its goal of consolidating hydrogen as a fundamental pillar in the decarbonisation of strategic sectors such as industry, mobility and energy generation .
