OMRON has announced the availability of its OMRON TM S series of collaborative robots (cobot), designed to address diverse applications across multiple industrial sectors. They feature advanced hardware, an expanded range of features, security certifications and next-generation configuration capabilities, making them more accessible and easier to use than ever.
The TM S Series offers four models, with payload capacities varying between 5 and 14 Kg and a reach ranging from 700 mm to 1300 mm. These cobots support various types of assembly, including the possibility of being used in mobile robots to form mobile manipulator (MoMa) solutions. Each is equipped with six rotating joints that operate with a repeatability of ±0.03 mm, offering six degrees of freedom and achieving average speeds between 1.1 and 1.4 m/s.

Models are available with and without integrated 1.2M/5M pixel color cameras or users can choose to use 2 optional 2D GigE cameras for applications requiring higher resolution. The J6 joint, located at the end of the cobot arm and which houses the camera, can move at a speed of 450°/s, being the fastest in the industry and four times faster than the previous model, which contributes to improve inspection operations.
With a total of 31 specific safety features, of which 12 are new for this new generation, these cobots are safer and are prepared to integrate with a wide variety of safety devices and switch configurations, eliminating the need for a external safety controller in numerous applications.
OMRON TM S Series cobots are intrinsically safe to operate in environments shared with people, although additional safety sensors or other arrangements may be required depending on the configured speeds and risk assessment of the application.
Likewise, they have certifications that ensure compliance with safety standards, including ISO 13849-1 PLd Cat 3 and ISO 10218-1, and have been designed to obtain UL/CSA/KC certifications. They also have an IP54 rating for both the arm and the control box (AC version only) and have been designed with protections that make them suitable for use in ISO 3 clean rooms or in environments where they may be exposed to oil. court.
Connectivity options include analogue/digital signals, HDMI, Ethernet LAN, USB, RS232, Ethernet and Modbus TCP/RTU master/slave configuration, with additional options for PROFINET and EtherNet/IP. These cobots operate on 100-240 VAC power at 50-60 Hz, and their power consumption varies depending on the size of the cobot.
Programming is simplified thanks to the next-generation Robot Stick control, which converts into a full touchscreen learning console. Programming, including manual guidance and TMFlow flowchart-based graphical programming, is designed to be accessible to both beginner and advanced users.
Compact and versatile, OMRON TM S Series cobots can be easily moved to carry out various tasks using their integrated cameras and positioning reference points. These are especially suitable for transforming the way factories operate in different industries, such as logistics, consumer packaged goods, life sciences, among others. Additionally, they can be used to perform various functions such as assembly, palletizing, machine maintenance, packaging, pick and place, and many others.
